Linz Day 5

This morning was the finals round! Michael got up early to go practice with the group and I went straight to the performance site.  I brought my camera and tripod to record them so I wanted to make sure I got a good spot to record :)

After their awesome performance we all went out for lunch.

The four guys make up the quartet and the girl on the far left (Kristin) is the wife of the man next to her.
I ordered a coke with my lunch and this is what I got.  It did not taste like coke at all! lol

This tea also came with my lunch.

After lunch,we went back to the Brucknerhaus for an afternoon concert where they were going to announe the winning ensemble performance.  Out of the four groups that made it to finals,  Michael's group placed 2nd.  I'm so very proud of them!! The group that won first place was from Wales so when you think about it,  they beat everyone from the U.S. that competed.  That's pretty awesome!

After this concert,  the wife of one of the quartet members, Kristen, and I went shopping just the two of us while the guys did Tuba conference stuff.  We needed to buy her husband a shirt for his recital which is on Saturday. We shopped around and then explored Linz and pretty much did whatever we wanted.

We thought this tram stop was pretty funny.  It's Burgerstrasse that stops right in front of McDonalds!

We stopped by a cafe and got some Linzer Torte!

After cake, we waked around the town a little and explored.

You can buy the whole pig!!!
After me and Kristen walked around for a while, we started taking back and side roads just exploring.  We happened to stumble across a beautiful hallway that lead to a gorgeous rose garden!  We felt like we were in the Secret Garden.

We left the rose garden and outside we found a mural of the Great Wall!  I found it to be very random.

I'm not sure what any of these buildings are.  They are not marked.  We just thought it was pretty scenery :)

This one reminded me of the restaurant Michael proposed to me in D. C.

"Eeeeyyyyyyyy!!!"

I took this for you Jenna!
We randomly stumbled upon Kepler's house!  I knew he was from this city but had no idea where he lived. Neat!

Kepler's house

So, one of the competing quartets is from France and they drove this van thing around.  We thought it was hysterical and after we came out of the finals round this morning, they had only one parking ticket.  When me and Kristen passed it going to back to meet our guys,  it had two lol

I took this one for Michael because of the awesome bike seat.

We found these in the trees.  We're not sure what they are and have never seen them before.  Interesting!
When we met up with the guys,  we decided to all go out for dinner.  We passed this fountain on the way and Robert and Kristen wanted to take a picture touching it.  They said they had a similar picture from Colorado and thought it would be cool to have another one.

We passed all of this on the way back to the main square going to dinner.

This picture was so cool to me.  It was outside a super old restaurant and was taken when it was first opened.

This poster was outside a photography studio.  It's a girl wearing bike shorts/shirt that look like lederhosen,  holding a gun while leaning against her bike that has a weasel and a duck.

Here we are! Back at the main square!

Here is a large group of old people on bikes :)

Kristen and Robert at dinner!

Here we are at our favorite restaurant, Riva.

While we were eating, a firetruck came by with its sirens on.  Bright orange instead of red!

This is what we're here for!
After we left Kristen and Robert, Michael and I decided to ride the tram past our hotel to see what was out there.  We rode it all the way to the last stop and as we were waiting for the tram back, we saw this super awesome poster.

Sorry I'm so behind guys!  We have been super busy.  Hoping to get the next few days uploaded soon!
